What is the difference between EMR and practice management software?
The difference between EMR and practice management software is what each one records: an electronic medical record (EMR) holds the clinical record of assessments, plans and notes, while practice management software runs the business around care, such as scheduling, intake, invoicing and family communication. Many therapy clinics use one product that does both, so check which parts a vendor actually includes.

| Question | EMR | Practice management software |
|---|---|---|
| What it records | Assessments, plans, session notes and results | Appointments, staff, rooms, invoices and messages |
| Who uses it most | Clinicians and supervisors | Coordinators, front desk and billing staff |
| The question it answers | What happened in this session, and what is the plan? | Who is booked where, and what is owed? |
Where TherapyCRM fits
TherapyCRM is practice management software with a clinical record: treatment plans, session data and reviewed notes sit beside scheduling, funding and invoices. It is not a physician EMR and has no EMR certification.
